Transmission electron microscopy demonstratrates reduced endothelial glycocalyx in preeclampsia

In a research article published in the Placenta, we demonstrated by direct measurements of endothelial glycocalyx in human biopsy samples of omentum, that it is reduced in severe preeclampsia in comparison to non-pregnant controls. Samples were prepared for transmission electron microscopy using perfusion with ruthenium red.
