We are pleased to announce the publication of a new article entitled " Vitamin A-Enriched Diet Increases Urothelial Cell Proliferation by Upregulating Itga3 and Areg After Cyclophosphamide-Induced Injury in Mice" by our young researcher Brina Dragar in Molecular Nutrition and Food Research.
Vitamin A is known to influence cell proliferation, apoptosis and differentiation, but its role in tissue regeneration is still being explored. We investigated how a vitamin A-enriched diet affects the regeneration of the urothelium of the urinary bladder after cyclophosphamide-induced injury in mice. We found that mice fed a vitamin A-enriched diet exhibited increased activity in the PI3K-Akt signalling pathway and the cell cycle-related signalling pathway, resulting in increased proliferation of urothelial cells. These results suggest that vitamin A could enhance urothelial regeneration by promoting cell proliferation.
